The Nu Upsilon Chapter Doubled in Size in Just Six Months!
The Nu Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing has inducted almost 1300 new nurse members within the last six months and almost doubled the size of their membership. The most recent induction ceremony was held April 23rd at GCU’s beautiful Ethington Theater with well over 100 attendees. New inductees traveled from across the nation, Florida to California, Wyoming to Texas, to attend the induction into the prestigious international honor society of nurses. Nu Upsilon is also celebrating the 25th Anniversary year since it became a chapter. One of the charter members, April Polley, was the fantastic guest speaker at the ceremony speaking of memories as a nursing student at GCU. After the ceremony, a delightful reception was held to allow faculty, current members, and guests the opportunity to meet and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments. To be invited into this prestigious international organization, all members must meet specific criteria including academic excellence, scholarship, and service/practice.
Additionally, the Nu Upsilon Induction Ceremony & celebration last December 12th at GCU was an amazing sold-out event with over 250 attendees, inductees, and guests. Many of the new members traveled with loved ones from across the country from Florida, Louisiana, Kansas, California, Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, & more. For the first time, we “zoomed” the induction event & it was a big hit. One of the faculty members, Rob Gaunt, was a roaming “zoom tour guide” and was able to share the event with new members nationwide. Dr. Lisa Smith, Dean of CONHCP, was the guest speaker as everyone celebrated the great accomplishments of the BSN, MSN, DNP students, and the nurse leaders. Congratulations and welcome to all new Nu Upsilon members!
